Edward Allan Murphy, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Murphy is a seasoned business executive with an extensive and successful background as an entrepreneur in the information systems and health care fields. Mr. Murphy joined AZTECH Company, a software and computer services business in Washington, DC, in its formation stage as its Chief Technology Officer and Treasurer in 1971. Following the sale of his equity in this company, Mr. Murphy co-founded Dental Benefit Providers (DBP) in 1984. Through his leadership and acumen, by 1998, DBP and its insurance subsidiaries grew to become the seventh-largest dental specialty insurance company in the United States; when he orchestrated its sale to UnitedHealth Group (UNH: NYSE) as its platform to enter the dental insurance industry.
Mr. Murphy remained its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and also assumed the role of CEO of an operating company of the Specialized Care Services division of UnitedHealth Group. He retired in December, 2002. During his tenure in the health care industry, Mr. Murphy held various leadership positions with the insurance trade association, including chairing the Board Of Directors for two of the six years he held leadership posts.
David O. Wiebers, MD, Chairman and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Wiebers is Professor of Neurology Emeritus and former Division Chair at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he was a leading clinician, teacher, and clinical researcher. He also served as Director of the Mayo Stroke Center and consultant in Clinical Epidemiology at Mayo.
He has been a visiting professor at 77 academic medical centers in 17 countries and has authored more than 340 scientific articles, five medical textbooks, and two books for the general public. He has managed multiple large NIH-funded research grants, including the International Study of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms involving 61 clinical centers in 14 countries.
Dr. Wiebers has had a leading role in medical practice, epidemiological, and research initiatives in several countries including the Soviet Union, Russia, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Switzerland. He has been the recipient of 22 international and 55 U.S. awards for scientific and medical achievement and recently received the Distinguished Career Award from the Mayo Foundation. He is referenced in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
Dr. Wiebers has also served as Chair of the Board of Directors of The Humane Society of the United States, the world’s largest animal protection organization, based in Washington, D.C.; and is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Society for the Protection of Animals, based in London, England.

Mr. Marcus entered the computer field in 1967, as a student at Columbia University from which he earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. Upon graduation from Columbia University, Mr. Marcus joined ComNet (Washington, D.C.) to manage their R&D group on large timesharing projects for government agencies (EPA, HEW, and others). From there, Mr. Marcus moved on to GEISCO (GE, Rockville, MD) to manage their advance IBM technology group (Mark X Project). In 1980, Mr. Marcus formed his own company, Micronetics Design Corporation, which grew to over 100 people with offices worldwide. At Micronetics, Mr. Marcus led the Engineering Group in designing and building the company's product line (which included an operating system, a database manager, and a language compiler) that was sold worldwide. In 1998, he sold Micronetics to a competitor.Mr. Marcus later joined Solvent Solutions (later acquired by Allegent Technology Group) as their Chief Scientist and, then Chief Technical Officer, where he designed and managed the implementation of the enterprise version of the flagship product (Enterprise Network Security). More recently, Mr. Marcus assumed the role of CEO of Redmatch North America (RMNA), an Israeli technology company selling recruitment software into the North American market. Today, RMNA powers the jobs portal, www.thejobnetwork.com, the online jobs websites of over 650 newspapers in US and Canada, and also powers over 100 corporate jobs websites.
Terry A. Cox, MD, Ph.D, Chief Biostatistician
Dr. Cox is a highly regarded biostatistician within his field. He began his education at the University of Kansas where he received both his undergraduate degrees in mathematics and his MD in Internal Medicine. He did his Internship in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City and Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He continued on to receive a Fellowship in Neuro-ophthalmology from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as well as a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Biostatistics. He has been on the academic staff at numerous universities, including the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University Medical center.Dr. Cox’s expertise within academia are in the fields of Ophthalmology, Neurology, Biostatistics, and Bioinformatics. He is a former Staff Scientist in Epidemiology and Clinical Research with the National Eye Institute. He has authored more than 86 scientific papers and is recognized for his expertise in modeling medical risk and outcomes within large databases.
Cynthia Merle Lipsitz, MD, MPH, Senior Staff Physician
Dr. Lipsitz is a board-certified physician in Preventive Medicine and Family Practice. She holds degrees from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, Medical College of Virginia, and the University of Virginia with Highest Distinction. In addition to Family and Preventive Medicine, Dr. Lipsitz expertise includes tobacco cessation programs, cancer prevention, nutrition, oral health, and health education. She has directed sessions in family planning, addiction medication management, latent tuberculosis, and immunization clinics. Dr. Lipsitz chaired the Howard County Child Fatality Review Team and Advocacy Center Executive Committee for numerous years.Dr. Lipsitz has co-created and staffed addiction medication management programs, working closely with the American Society of Addiction Medicine, MedChi and United Way of Central Maryland. Dr. Lipsitz has over 25 years of clinical expertise in Preventive Medicine/Public Health.
Michael Albert Reginald Carty, MD, Senior Staff Physician
Dr. Carty is a board -certified physician in Internal Medicine. Dr. Carty graduated from Yale University, cum laude, with a BS in Biology. He continued on to Yale Medical School for his MD. His post-doctoral studies were at the University of Pittsburgh where he did his internship, residency, and became an instructor in Internal Medicine. He continued his education at Harvard University with a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Carty has over 20 years of clinical experience in an academic setting at Harvard; Harvard Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine; Kellog Summer Fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health in Statistics, and Epidemiology and Decision Analysis.Dr. Carty has additional experience in peer review, utilization review, issues of drug safety, and pharmacology with numerous publications in these areas. Dr. Carty’s work experience also includes engagements as a Consultant Internist to McLean Psychiatric Hospital and as a physician reviewer for Private Health Care Systems. Dr. Carty has authored and contributed to numerous scientific papers, newsletter articles, and presentations on geriatrics, depression, and drug treatment.
Charles P. Bosmajian, Jr., Ph.D, Resiliency Manager
Dr. Bosmajian holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, and a Masters of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Maryland. He continued his education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, receiving an M.S. in Psychology and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology.Dr. Bosmajian has worked as a Clinical Psychologist for over 20 years in private practice, specializing in consultation and training in cognitive-behavior therapy, behavior management, and behavior analysis. He has designed and implemented treatment programs focused on behavior problems in children, the developmentally disabled, and chronically mentally ill.
Dr. Bosmajian’s professional background includes research, consulting, published journal articles, and numerous presentations addressing issues associated with cognitive therapy, behavior change management, and applied behavioral analysis.
Marcia A. Lang, PSYD, LCSW-C, CCDC, CEAP, Chemical Independence Manager
Dr. Lang holds a Doctor of Psychology degree in Addictions from the International University for Graduate Studies and a Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University. She is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified employee assistance professional, and a certified chemical dependency counselor. She is also internationally certified as an alcohol and drug counselor.Dr. Lang’s clinical experience includes extensive psychotherapy work with behavioral disorders and substance abuse treatment. In addition to her private practice, her professional experience includes the development of the Child Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program and the development of the Adolescent Dual Diagnosis Program at Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Lang has provided behavioral management and psychological consultations to managers, supervisors, and employees within the federal government, including the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Dr. Lang has also conducted psychological evaluations for prospective law enforcement and other high-risk personnel through Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Jon F. Giese, M ED, Fitness & Exercise Manager
Mr. Giese brings over 20 years of experience in the fitness training and exercise physiology fields. He has been a key figure in the personal training field in Minnesota through his national and international leadership roles in the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).In addition, Mr. Giese founded and managed a personal training company in Minnesota, from 1991-1997 employing scores of expert fitness trainers . Along with a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Mr. Giese has vast experience and a variety of fitness certifications that cover the population spectrum from young children through the very old. Mr. Giese is a former Manager of Patient Education Operations of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, the largest patient education specialty unit in the world.
Peter M. Koeppl, Manager, S.M.I.L.E.S. (Sleep, Music, Intimacy, Laughter, Enhanced Appearance, and Spirituality)
Mr. Koeppl is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and is board-certified with the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psycho diagnosticians. Mr. Koeppl’s educational background has focused on the areas of clinical psychology and behavioral medicine with professional training and internships at both the Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland schools of medicine. His professional background includes over 20 years experience as a clinician and researcher in the areas of behavioral medicine, wellness and illness prevention, as well as sports and performance psychology.Mr. Koeppl is published in several peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences. His research and clinical interests extend to stress management, health-related behavior change, performance enhancement, neuropsychology, and investigating the relationship between diet, exercise, and personality.
Rick S. Weissinger, MS, RD, Diet & Nutrition Manager
Mr. Weissinger has years of clinical and academic experience with an in-depth specialization in nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, and diet/medicine interactions. Mr. Weissinger holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from California State University of Long Beach and is a Registered Dietitian. He has authored two books and numerous papers focused on a significant array of subjects, including nutritional guidelines for clinicians, cancer and macronutrients, and phytochemicals and motivational dieting behavior.Mr. Weissinger is involved with the Editorial Review Board of the "Nutrition Journal," and has taught numerous college-level courses on nutrition and has 20+ years of experience in the health care industry.
Steve Ann Chambers, Esq., Director, Product Development
Ms. Steve Ann Chambers is an Attorney with over 20 years experience in private sector business litigation and non-profit organizational leadership. In addition to her legal training and experience, during the past 25 year, Ms. Chambers has been involved in the development of a number of public health and safety education and prevention products. Adrian Prezioso, Director, Research and Development (Information Technology)
Mr. Prezioso received his both B.A. (graduating Magna Cum Laude) and M.A. in Computer Science from Boston University. He is well-versed in the management and development of enterprise software. As Director of Engineering at Allegent Technology Group, Mr. Prezioso provided the technical and management leadership for the architecture, design, and development of numerous products from inception through production. He co-founded a security start-up company while co-inventing its J2EE enterprise security management product. As Director of Engineering at Denali Solutions, Mr. Prezioso oversaw product development, leveraging various technologies, while providing the leadership that supported the doubling of the company’s revenue growth.Christian Curtis, CISSP, Chief Architect
Mr. Curtis holds a B.S in Computer Science from Westminster College in Utah. He has co-authored numerous publications, including technical manuals on Linux and S/390. His 13-year professional career and expertise includes extensive fluency in web-based systems development tools and environments as well as an in-depth background in large-scale database design and management.Mr. Curtis had been involved in the architect and implementation of specialized media metadata storage and processing systems, with a specialized expertise in enterprise security and management. Immediately prior to joining Preventive Medicine, he was responsible for the design, development, and implementation of backend systems to support media navigation software for consumer electronics devices. Mr. Curtis has architected and implemented domain-specific language processes, prototyped intelligent analytical agents, and invented unique algorithms using semantic metadata.
